The SW8 camshaft has been designed to fill the gap between the legendary Swiftune SW5 road cam and the equally popular SW10.
This will suit the customer who wants a more powerful cam without taking the large step of using the SW10. It delivers extra power but, keeping the requirements of road usage in mind. The dyno test figures we achieved were from a 1380cc unit which was fitted with twin 1.5 SU carburettors, 1.5 ratio rockers and a Dimspeed cylinder head using 35.7 in and 29.5 ex valves. These were deliberate choices to replicate the specification that many home tuners might use when building their own Mini and Midget. our test engine also delivered 110 bhp at the top end.
On the technical front, this cam has been developed on the latest Lotus software. They are cross-drilled and produced from a steel billet using state of the art CNC machining.
The SW camshafts are machined from custom steel billet! No more aggravation with exchange camshafts, just a brand new core designed and produced at the right cost and the highest quality steel with specific profile shapes to suite road camshaft to eliminate excessive grinding of race x-drilled blanks and removing the vital surface hardening. The end result is a camshaft with deeper surface hardening and superb wear resistance.
This camshaft is suitable for 1275 engines and above !
